Chinese New Year Fortune God Mask
Everyone in the Witty Hoots family enjoys celebrating the Chinese New Year. Every year we make sure that we participate in our local communities celebrations and finish the day with a wonderful Chinese meal at a local restaurant.
This year is the year of the Sheep and we decided to make a fortune god mask for our youngest to wear!
Materials We Used
Red Card
Black Card
Gold or Yellow Paper
Black Wool
Sticky Tape
Scissors
What We Did
First we cut strip of card, wrapped it around our head and then secured it with sticky tape. This was to be the headband for our fortune god hat. We then cut out a semi-circle of red card and decorated it with a smaller circle of yellow paper that looked like a lucky coin. We added some red paper scrolls to either side and then attached them to the head band.
After cutting out a beard shape from the black paper we threaded a piece of black wool through either side of the beard. We attached it to the head band with sticky tape.
Finally we put it on! Our teddy decided to model it for us and I think he looks like a fantastic fortune god!
