Surf Style Jewellery for Summer
Want an activity that will keep your youngsters and tweens occupied? Are you looking for a great craft to make on holiday? Then a Surf Style Jewellery set from Interplay Educational Toys could be the one to pop into your shopping bag.
Peakles enjoys making jewellery for herself and as gifts for family and friends. She was excited to find out that we were reviewing a Surf Style Jewellery making kit this month! She could not wait to start making some of the pieces that are shown on the front of the box!
What’s Inside the Box?
We opened the box to find:
- instruction booklet
- different coloured cords
- 2 clasps
- 4 clamshell clasps
- 7 jump rings
- 1 safety pin
- 3 beach themed metal charms
- 15 metallic sparkly beads
- 50 rose gold coloured beads in 2 sizes
- 5 sequins
We carefully unpacked the box and read the instruction leaflet before deciding which piece we would make first.
This craft box was aimed at children aged 8 years plus. Peakles is 6 years old and was able to make these with some help from me.
We decided to follow the instructions to make a necklace and Peakles was able to follow the pattern and helped to knot the threads too. Soon Peakles was taking the lead and making the necklaces on her own. We attempted to make a bracelet and found making the knots a little fiddly for Peakles, so we made more necklaces instead. Soon we had lots of beach ready jewellery to wear on our holidays this year!
Our Thoughts on the Surf Style Jewellery Kit
Peakles really enjoyed making this summertime jewellery. She had creative control over her designs and was able to work on her own for most of the morning with this kit. She enjoyed wearing the jewellery as much as making them! Another big thumb’s up from Peakles!
I thought the Surf Style Jewellery kit was great as Peakles could complete the craft without much help. We did find the knots for the bracelets a little fiddly and Peakles did get a little frustrated so I took over for a little while before we decided to make more necklaces! An older child with more manual dexterity would probably find this ok to do as well. What I liked was the size of the kit which was quite compact and ideal to take on holiday as it would not take up too much room.
What I liked was the size of the kit which was quite compact and ideal to take on holiday as it would not take up too much room. We both liked the lovely colours and this kit made a more sophisticated range of jewellery that would appeal to older kids as well.
I would buy this for a birthday or a general present for her age group and older. The current RRP is £9.99 and available at all good toy stores as well as online.
