How to Make a Funky Sand Picture
First, we drew a basic funky design on the canvas (or cardboard) before making our different coloured paints. Next, we put some paint in a pot and added some play sand. We mixed the sand and paint together until we had a thick, textured paint. Then, we used to paint to colour in some areas of our funky design and left it to dry. We repeated this with different coloured sand paints until all of the design was covered, we left this to dry overnight.
Finally, we added some PVA glue to some of the coloured areas and left it to dry out. We added a ribbon to the back of our funky sand picture to hang it up.
Peakles thoroughly enjoyed making and using these textured paints and we were really delighted with the finished sand pictures too! We plan to make some more pictures over the next few weeks to fit in with her new bedroom.
