Recycled Socks for Juggling!
We have to recycle so many socks at the moment as Peakles has grown again and rather than just pop them in the recycling bin I thought they would make ideal juggling bags or balls so we can practise those circus skills! This fits in brilliantly with this month’s Project Recycle and Create’s theme for using old socks and remember to check the other neat ways to use your old socks through the links at the end!

How We Made Our Juggling Bags
First, Peakles sorted out some of her favourite old socks and turned them inside out. Next, she filled half filled the socks with dried rice. Then, she securely tied an elastic band halfway down the sock to stop the rice falling out. Next, we folded the top of the sock over the rice-filled the bottom of the sock, so that the pattern was showing. Finally, we secured the sock by stitching the top together with some wool.
Peakles loved making these juggling bags and we also experimented using different fillings as well, from cotton wool to pasta, each one gave a different feel and changed the way we threw and caught them as well!
