EXTRAS TO ADD ONCE DOUGH IS COOLED
1/2 cup mixed glitter
egg shaped confetti
Setting the Scene for Dough Play
We placed the dough on a large sheet and had some twigs, polystyrene eggs and some egg confetti to hand. Then we began the dragon music and began to play.
Music and Dough Play – My Observations
The music started off quiet eerily and then the tempo changed as our daughter pressed and moulded the glittery dough with her hands. She enjoyed stretching and squashing the dough before finally settling on creating a huge dragons nest out of the dough and twigs before creating a large mummy dragon to sit on the top of the nest. She chattered about how the mummy dragon would look after the babies once they had been born by breathing fire on them to keep them warm!
The music we chose for our Dragon Play Dough were classical or traditional inspired pieces:
Medieval Dragon Music – Dragon Cliffs
Mussorgsky – Pictures at an Exhibition – The Gnome
Epic Chinese Music – Chinese Dragon
Richard Wagner – Ride of the Valkyries
Dragon Music – Heart of Courage
Chinese Music Instrumental – Chinese Festival
You can visit our YouTube channel and listen to the pieces we chose for this sensory dough activity or listen to them here:
