Hearts & Kisses Valentine Card
Valentines Day is celebrated on February 14th and is an opportunity to tell someone you love them. There is nothing better than receiving a homemade card from your little one and we are going to share some easy ideas on how to make a Hearts and Kisses Valentine card with your youngster.
A large carrot or potato
Some paint – we used red, dark pink and gold
Some white paper or card
A4 gold card folded in half
Parchment paper – (this is optional & you could use white paper or tissue paper)
What We Did
First, we cut the carrot into two and carved out a simple heart shape on one and a simple X shape on the other.
Then we put the paint onto a large plate – you could use a tray or a paper plate.
Dip the carved heart carrot into the paint and press firmly onto the white and/or parchment paper and repeat this all over the paper
Do the same with the carved X carrot.
Leave to dry.
Making the Card
There are different ways that you could construct your card. The easiest is to just fold the card in half and you have a card decorated on two sides.
Or you could cut out a large heart shape from the printed card and stick it onto a folded gold coloured card.
Finally, if you have used parchment paper you could cut out a large heart shape from the front of your folded gold coloured card and then stick the printed parchment paper behind it – this makes a lovely ‘window’ effect especially when the card is opened. We actually folded the card with the gold on the inside to create a ‘warm glow’ for our parchment window.
