Small Actions for Big Change
We have been looking for a book which explains in quite simple but scientific terms the impact humans have on the planet. We needed a book that could be referenced in school reports and that cut through to the facts. We have found books that are either simplistic/have little scientific value or are not suitable in content or written style for readers under 10 years old.
We decided to read Why Should I Bother About The Planet written by Sue Meredith. This is a really informative book which seems to cover many problems facing us today. It covers carbon footprints, greenhouse effect, recycling and so on. This book not only suggests what may happen if humans do not change the way they live but also gives some suggestions on how to change too.

After reading the book and thinking about what our family can do to help reduce our impact on the planet we came decided to make some changes as well.

Standby mode on electrical goods uses the same amount of energy.
No Waste Cooking – Becoming Frugal with Food.
Start cooking and shopping smartly. Cooking from scratch and only buying what you need.
Recycle, Upcycle & Bicycle
Recycle when and where you can and better still upcycle! Give ‘new’ life to objects such as furniture, clothes and paper by making them into something new. Finally ditch the car and start getting fit by getting on your bike!
