Boostiful Pear Porridge Recipe from The Healthy Girl Guide.


The Healthy Girl Guide has recently shared my Three Things to Help Improve Your Energy Levels which are essential reading as we head towards those darker mornings and nights.  I mentioned a great porridge recipe to get you motivated and energised in the morning and I am delighted to feature it here!


Boostiful Pear Porridge (Feeds four hungry people!)

Any busy family home should have a good staple porridge recipe. The right recipe can set you up for the day and warm the cockles of your heart even on the coldest of days!

200g Porridge Oats

4 small or 2 large pears (peeled, cored and chopped)

1  – 1.5 litres of milk (of your choice) or water

50 grams of greek yogurt

Small handful of chopped walnuts and 2 tablespoons of honey mixed together

1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon



Place the oats, chopped pear, and cinnamon in  a pan with a litre of milk. Heat and bring to a simmer for 6 minutes, stiring all the time to stop the porridge from sticking to the pan .  Add more milk if the porridge is too thick.  Once cooked to your liking, remove from the pan and divide into four bowls.   Top each bowl with a dollop of greek or natural yogurt, and a teaspoon of the walnut mixture!


Top Tip:

To save time, chop a 50g packet of walnuts and pour into a sterilised jam jar. Add four tablespoons of honey and store in the fridge for anytime your feel like using a teaspoon as a porridge topper!
