Chinese New Year Fun
Year of the Sheep!
Chinese New Year always means fun for us. We go out and watch the dragon dances, see the lion and the unicorn visiting all the local businesses and restaurants and we giggle as they devour the lettuce that is being dangled from the upper stories of the shops and places to eat. The noise is unbelievable with firecrackers, cymbals and lots of drumming!
So we like to make some noise too! There are many different ways of make a loud noise at Chinese New Year! First we have a drum – this was a plain drum that was bought from a craft shop. Peakles has added some red ribbon and has painted the front of the drum with gold and red paint.
We also celebrated with a meal out at our favourite local Chinese restaurant where Peakles enjoyed her favourite of noodles, chicken in sweet and sour sauce and duck with pancakes! She even managed to use proper chopsticks this year which just seemed to sum up how determined our little Tiger lady is!
We have made some simple cymbals at home from some pan lids – we tied ribbon onto them to make them more festive – I told Peakles we could not paint them because I need them to cook with!
As the Chinese New Year Celebrations draw to a close Peakles likes to make some more noise until next time! Here is a quick ‘firecracker‘ idea that we published earlier this month ideal for book marking for next year which will be the Year of the Monkey!
Hope you all have had a fantastic Chinese New Year! I know that we have and we will be back next year with more crafts and interesting things too!
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year
