Christmas Tree Calendar
Are you wanting to avoid the candy and chocolate filled advent calendars this year? Do you want a simple way to count down the days to Christmas? Then our fun and easy to make Advent Calendar should be perfect for you and your family!
We love advent calendars and we like to make a different one each year! So we decided to share our Christmas Tree calendar which can be decorated every day during Advent.
Large piece of cardboard Green paint or paper Scissors
26 hook and eye squares Different coloured paper
Round bottle top Pencil
Festive drawings to colour in
Glitter or sequins Glue Small cardboard box
Gold or silver marker Gold paint
Laminator and laminating sheets
How to Make the Advent Calendar
First, draw a large tree shape on the cardboard and cut it out. Paint it green and then leave it to dry. You can try adding some glue to the tree and sprinkle glitter on it to make it sparkly!
Next, take the coloured paper and draw around the bottle top to make 25 circles. Write the numbers 1 to 25 on the circles and decorate some with glitter.
Then, place the circles all over the tree to look like Christmas baubles. Take the hook and eye squares and add them to the back of the bauble and the tree, making sure that all the hook sides were on the tree and all the eye sides were on the baubles.
Colour in some festive drawings with pencils and glitter gel pens. Then cut around the drawings before placing in the laminating sheet and laminating them. Then, cut them out and added some velcro to the backs of these as well, making sure that you only the eye part of the hook and eye squares. Place the laminated pictures inside a decorated box or bag.
Finally, cut out a star from some cardboard, paint it gold and add a hook and eye square to the back and to the top of the tree.
How to Use Our Advent Tree
Stick the tree to a wall with some sticky tack and then add all the velcro baubles plus the star to the top of the tree. The idea is that on the first of December you remove the bauble numbered with a 1 and replace it with a festive picture. Continue to do this every day as you count down the days of the advent to Christmas Eve. On Christmas Day, place a smaller silver star on the top of the star.
