How to Make Fabulous Button Bookmarks

Easy to Make Button Bookmarks

A Button Bookmark is a great way to keep track of where you are in your book!  If your kids are learning their ABC’s then this is a fun craft to do for ‘B is for….’ and they are really easy for kids to make!  Plus bookmarks can also show your kids that you place value on books and their reading choices too, by not only marking their place but by showing that books are to be cherished and cared for as well.

How To Make Button Bookmarks

We loved making these so much and hope you enjoy making them too!

Simple Plaited Button Bookmarks

First, we took a large button and threaded three equal lengths of wool through the holes on the button.  We tied the ends together to stop the button coming off.

Next, we did a simple cross over plait and plaited our wool to make the ‘tail’ of our bookmark.

Then, we added a bead before knotting the wool together.  Perfect for marking the place in all our important books!

Material Bookmark

First, we took a strip on material and laid it flat on our work surface.

Next, we choose some buttons and arranged them at the top of our material

Then, we glued them in place and left them to dry.

Finally, we took a fabric pen and wrote ‘B is for…’ next to the button.  You could also write a name or some initials or even draw a little cartoon character!

As you can see our button bookmarks are perfect for all ages to make.   Why not make some to give away as presents to the avid bookworm amongst your family of friends?
