Scrunchy Pictures with Plastic Bags
We never know what to do with plastic bags, so what better craft activity for this month’s Project Recycle and Create than using them to make a scrunchy picture? Peakles has used lots of different materials over the past few years to make pictures with but we have never really used plastic bags before due to her young age. She wanted to make a picture using all the different coloured plastic bags we have in the cupboard!

How We Made Our Scrunchy Plastic Bag Picture
First, Peakles drew her design on the canvas in pencil and then went over the final design with the black marker pen. Next, we cut the plastic bags into squares and long strips. Peakles then put the glue on the canvas before adding the cut plastic bags. She added scrunched up squares or strips to her design, working within the black permanent marker lines. Finally, we added a ribbon to the back of the canvas and left the picture to dry.
Peakles loved making this picture and it was great to use a new crafting material too. We really enjoyed making these pictures and plan to experiment making more with different plastic objects in the near future
We waited to use plastic bags until Peakles was 6 years old for safety reasons because extra care should be taken when working with young children and plastic bags.
