This week we have been thinking about our New Years Resolutions which is a difficult concept for a three-year old to grasp. We talked about what a resolution was and why people make them. Eventually we came to the conclusion that it is a promise to ourselves that we will try to keep.

I thought that we could keep all of our resolutions in a box and use them as a reminder if we started to break one of our resolutions. I hope that we can keep most, if not all, of these New Years resolutions and in a years time we will open our box and see how many we have managed to keep!

We took one of the boxes that we have saved from the holidays and Peakles added some flower embellishments that I had bought from a bargain bin at a craft store.

The box itself was already quite bright and pretty so Peakles used sticky pads to attach the flowers.

She then decorated some spare card that I had folded to make tiny cards!

She used some stickers that we had spare from another project we had made. Peakles enjoyed making these small cards and spent quite some time carefully adding the stickers to the front.
Finally I began to write down our resolutions onto the cards:
Peakles – will try to listen to Mummy and Daddy.
Mummy – will try to make sure that we listen to her too.
Peakles – will play quietly when Mummy and Daddy are talking.
Mummy – will make sure that Peakles can play loudly everyday!
Peakles – will jump in muddy puddles whenever she can.
Mummy – will always carry spare clothes in her bag for just such occasions!

Once they were written Peakles posted them into our New Years Resolution Box! Now if we need help to remember what our resolutions for 2014 are, we can just take some of the cards out of the box to refresh our memories!

It truly is a simple craft that uses recycled materials, is colourful and helps to explain what a New Years Resolution is to a pre school child.
Aw lovely idea!!! 🙂 will most defintley try and remember this for next year.
Happy New Year!!

Really good idea for young and old alike.
I love that Peakles resolves to jump in muddy puddles! May she enjoy that as long as she can!
Muddy puddles are awesome!
