We have used vinegar in our home for many years – from cooking to cleaning! We usually have three types in our cupboards. White which is clear in colour, malt and apple cider.
Each one has a slightly different use and we wanted to share some of the fantastic things you can do with it because it is a truly wonderful asset to the home.
It is relatively cheap, easy to store and is a more ‘green’ option than a lot of more common household cleaners. So today we are going to share some of our top tips about it!
Cleaning with Vinegar
Put white vinegar in a reusable spray bottle and use to disinfect chopping boards and other wooden surfaces in the kitchen.
50/50 with water makes a great window cleaner. Spray straight onto the glass or onto a cloth and then rub windows until sparkling clean.
Wipe down kitchen scissors with it to remove sticky grime without rusting the blades.
Cooking with Vinegar
Put a teaspoon into the water when you are poaching eggs to help the egg stay together. It will not leave a taste.
Add a little white vinegar to egg whites when you are making meringue.
Mix apple cider vinegar with honey and tomato ketchup to make a quick sweet and sour marinade for vegetables or meat.
Rinse your hair with warm water and vinegar to reduce dandruff and give a shine to your hair.
Add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to a glass of water and drink every morning as a tonic.
Ease a sore throat by gargling with 50/50 mix of it with warm water.
These are just a few examples of how versatile it is. Once you start looking up what you can do around the home, you will be surprised at how many more things you can do too!
